Chapter 32

Not a Walk in the Park

Yelp, yelp.

Violet and Kit land in the jungle outside the red rock citadel in the Earthen Gardens. Many flying dinosaurs and birds begin cawing. They scatter through the sky out of the trees. A wind picks up, and Violet’s cape lifts behind her. She looks back and is confused. Her hair is not affected. Violet begins walking and Kit suddenly stops. He begins growling. His green tail glows and from it another green Kitsune appears. The two rush off through a bush, and a coconut pops out. Violet kneels down and taps it with a finger three times. It rolls over, and a very green banana pops out of the bush. Kit and his green clone jump out. Both growl at the fruits. Violet picks them both up and stands. She looks at a nearby rock and positions herself to throw the coconut. She pulls her arm behind her shoulder and lifts her left leg off the ground.

“Wait!” The coconut turns into a woman and the banana turns into a man. “I don’t think we need to harm one another.” The man and woman slowly walk to each other and examine Violet closely. “Say? You’re not of Earth, Fire, Water, or Air Element. Yet…,” says the woman.

“Why do we not see you the same?” the man asks. Violet looks into his eyes. “I see you with long beautiful dark purple coloured straight hair, and my sister sees you with very curly light purple hair.”

“I don’t have an answer.” Violet shrugs her shoulders. “You’re not the only ones with this confusion. Maybe, we should introduce ourselves.” Violet holds out her hand. “My name is Violet, and I’m from the Platinum Palace. I…” She looks down at Kit and back at the siblings. “I need to…”

Suddenly, a dozen chimeras appear! The siblings quickly turn into the banana and coconut. They fall to the ground and roll back into the bush. A chimera leaps toward Violet and ends up tackling a rock as she dodges. Kit’s clone is pounced and disappears. He jumps in the air, and his red tail launches a few fireballs. Some of the chimeras turn to dust, and Violet summons her sword. She swings and takes out all the chimeras.

“Whoa! The Blade of Purity! Here!” The brother walks out of the bush and smiles at the sword. Violet holds it up for him to examine closer.

“I can’t…believe it! Bartholomew’s…,” the sister speaks slowly. She looks at Violet’s pendant. “The Platinum Pendant on the princess…”

“I need to bring this world out of the warp in time and space. It needs to be whole in the future. To stop Martin, I need the Earthen Gardens,” Violet tells the brother and sister.

“Ha, ah, ha! No one in that citadel will give way. That is why my brother and I are out here. We are considered outcasts. Not everyone is permitted in the Earthen Gardens citadel walls. Just the ancient and worthy.
